Porters now open from 9.00am daily

16 MARCH, 2009 - Porters Plainland Hotel are now opening for all-day dining and entertainment from 9.00am daily, a small change from our previous 8.00am opening time.

So you'll now find us open from the same time as the Bottleshop and Cellars.  Our 7.00am weekend Breakfasts on the Deck continue as advertised!



Love your poker? It's moving to Mondays

19 DECEMBER, 2008 - Poker is moving back to Monday nights at Porters Plainland, starting 5 January.  Join the fun of Australian Poker League, with tons of prizes up for grabs, including our weekly first prize of a $50 Hotel Voucher.  It's free to play, and a fun night for beginners and pros alike.

Plainland's Keeping it in the Family

26 MAY, 2008 - Family Business Australia, the peak body for family and private enterprises in Australia, have awarded Porters ‘Third Generation Family Business of the Year (Qld)’ for the second year running.

Meanwhile, our award-winning suppliers of fresh meats, Schultes Meat Tavern, have been named Second Generation Family Business of the Year.

It’s a great honour for two Plainland family operations of long-standing to share in these awards, and a big thanks go out to all our loyal staff and patrons who make it possible!



Porters New Bottleshop Opens

1 JANUARY, 2008 - Warrego Highway travellers will have noticed the slabs going up over recent months, and on Saturday 22 December the hard work finally paid off with the grand opening of the Plainland Hotel's huge new drive-through bottleshop, just in time for Christmas.

Featuring a greatly enlarged, fully air-conditioned and modernised product area including a walk-in coldroom, the new building at around 300 square metres is more than double the size of the old hotel bottleshop, and promises to continue the Porter family's renowned service to their patrons.  Busy travellers can now also enjoy the convenience of a two-lane drive through with mobile eftpos service.

Porters named QHA's 'Hoteliers of the Year'

12 NOVEMBER, 2007 - 30 years of dedication were rewarded in a surprise gong from Queensland's peak hotels body recently, when Bob and Julie Porter were named the QHA Hoteliers of the Year for 2007.

The Queensland Hotels Association's most prestigious award was the last to be presented at the annual awards night held in Brisbane on 1 November, and Bob and Julie freely admit to being 'totally surprised'.

"It was a very emotional moment. It's more of a personal thing for us. We've put in the hard yards together and we are very proud of that," Julie Porter said.

9 JANUARY, 2007 - Are you a deft hand at the cards?  Get on your poker face and get down to Porters for Australian Masters Poker, starting this Wednesday night, 10 January!

It's the free national weekly poker competition - play against your friends, your pub and the nation to find out who will be the next Australian Master!  Beginners are welcome, and it's absolutely free to play.

Registration for the game opens from 6.30pm Wednesday nights at Porters Plainland Hotel.  The game starts at 7.00pm.
