Porters Plainland Hotel named Best Hotel Redevelopment under $1M

7 OCTOBER, 2003  |  Porters Plainland Hotel has been named Queensland's Best Hotel/Tavern Redevelopment Under $1 Million in this year's Queensland Hotels Association (QHA) awards.

Completed by design and construction firm Paynter Dixon, the hotel revamp was also recently named best refurbishment/renovation up to $2 million in the Queensland Master Builders Association's 2003 Housing and Construction Awards.

The industry recognition caps off a successful year for the Hotel, as its new-look renovations - launched late in 2002 - have boosted the landmark pub's popularity for locals and travellers alike.

The entirely revamped hotel now plays host to a greater choice of entertainment than ever before, with new additions such as pool tables, video jukebox, Sunday breakfasts, and live bands most Friday nights.

Porters Plainland now shows a fresh new face to visitors, with a bold and colourful modern layout based around a large bar that opens onto all areas of the hotel, including the new timber deck.  The new look is a hit with younger clientele, while longstanding patrons also give it the seal of approval.

The QHA award also confirms what the Porters already know - that the Plainland district is moving ahead in leaps and bounds.  The Warrego Highway is a growing source of traffic for local business, and the emerging tourism market adds a new dimension.

Neighbouring Schultes Meat Tavern - supplier of quality smallgoods for the Hotel's daily meals and a family-owned operation of 50 years standing - is itself a recent award winner (best supplier of smallgoods in Australia).

Why not come and see for yourself what all the fuss is about - you'll want to stay all day!
